2 Simple Ways To Beat That Weight Loss Plateau

Have you ever started a new diet program and you lose a few pounds the first several weeks only to discover that the scale seems to get stuck at that weight and not go down anymore?

Sure you know what I’m talking about. You start the latest fad diet and you’re ecstatic when you begin to see the scale start to go down. But then after a few weeks it stops going down and seems to be stuck. You’ve hit a plateau and realize the instant weight loss is only temporary. One remedy for that problem is a change in lifestyle habits.

You’re probably doing the same exercises over and over again and while it was effective for the first few weeks your body soon adapts and gets accustomed to your routine and you stop getting the same results.

To go beyond this plateau you need to change your diet and exercise routine. Here’s several methods to get out of that rut that you’re in.

1. Cutting back and counting calories isn’t the way to go. As you cut back on the calories your body slowly begins to adapt by slowing down your metabolism to compensate. That’s part of the reason why weight loss is effective at first, but then it begins to slow down.

In order to keep your metabolism and energy levels high you need to eat more often. Notice I didn’t say more, but more often. By eating several smaller mini meals and snacks rather then 2-3 large meals you’ll be spreading out your calories more evenly throughout the day and the calories will be less likely to be stored as fat.

2. Increase your physical activity during the day, exercise if necessary. Dieting and exercise has proven to be highly effective in losing that extra weight. The extra activity will help to speed up your metabolism and burn off the fat. Long slow aerobic exercise such as walking everyday is an excellent way to burn unwanted fat. It’s simple and anyone can do it without the need for special or expensive equipment.
